Gearing Up to Face Redfall’s Vampires

The island of Redfall is a perilous place.
With the vampires and their cultist followers running amok, you’ll need to get creative and use everything at your disposal to stay alive. But between your chosen hero’s unique abilities and the weapons and gear scattered across the island, you’ll have everything you need to take back Redfall. Read on for some of Arkane Austin’s tips to help you start building your ideal arsenal.

A Vampire Hunter’s Best Friend
Pick and choose among these weapons to suit your playstyle, tracking down what you need as you explore the island. Some of the weapons you’ll find on Redfall will be literally cobbled together with… whatever the remaining citizens of the island had around. Think Mom and Pop’s old family hunting rifle, but with some duct-taped enhancements. But that doesn’t mean they’re any less efficient when it comes to dusting bloodsuckers.
Of course, as you assemble your arsenal of weapons, you’ll start to notice distinctly a more militaristic edge to some of them. But what is military equipment doing on the island? Yet another mystery for you to solve as you explore.
“Our weapons are an interesting twist on the genre,” says Production Director Ben Horne. “We have loadout options players already know and love, like rare shotguns and sniper rifles with randomized weapon traits to make each drop feel like one of an endless potential of combinations. In addition to that, some of our weapons are unique vampire hunting weapons—like the Stake Launcher or UV Beam—that can be used tactically to eliminate the vampire threat.”
Arkane’s Gear Hunting Tips
- A favorite location to get a guaranteed Unrivaled weapon is at the top of the Lighthouse during “Fall Like Lightning.” That weapon will come in handy during your first Rook fight.
- We love searching for the early sniper rifle at the water tower near the Fire Station. There’s a great vampire encounter there, too.
- Some Weapon Stakes can only be discovered by scavenging every inch of Redfall. Others are found in loot containers, or from defeating Vampire Gods. One of our favorites is the guitar stake located in the big dumpster behind Dead Catch Records.
- Weapon skins are unlocked at random through looting. However, there’s an exception: William Becks Revolver. William Beck's Revolver has a unique skin that can be used on all weapons. It's a black and gold marble revolver on the table in front of the fireplace in one of the psychic realms during “The Festival” mission.
- Not as much of a tip, but if you want to look super badass, one of our favorite Hero Skin combinations is Jacob’s wolf mask with his Eyes in the Dark pre-order cosmetic.
