Dive deeper into the darkness of the island with these tips and tricks for the advanced vampire hunter.

As you already know by now, Redfall is plagued by vampires, and most of the people on the island are either dead or undead. You’ve already got a favorite hero or two (or four) and staked your fair share of vampires. You’re getting good at it too. From getting to know and trust your friends to defeating the relentless Rook, these tips and tricks are for you, hunter.

Getting Friendly

• As multiple Heroes play together, they increase their Trust score over time. This leads to more intimate dialogue VO and some mechanical buffs. At different Trust tiers, you’ll get bonuses to damage reduction, downed time, enemy killed XP, revive time, health restored after revive, and healing.
• If you’re playing with friends a lot, be sure to invest in the hero skills that can help out your squad, like Jacob’s Cloak and Remi’s Mobilize.
• Don’t take the stairs! Layla’s Lift ability, Dev’s Translocate, and even Remi’s C4 Charge are all great for launching themselves and their teammates to higher ground. This kind of mobility is especially handy for Jacob so he can provide covering fire and take out enemies from above with his Heartstopper ultimate ability.
• Layla's ‘Energized Ascension’ skill is fantastic if you are a fan of stake launchers and shotguns. Combine this with her Vampire Slayer I and II skill that increases stake launcher ammo, and Layla becomes a powerful support Hero with serious vampire-slaying firepower.
• Devinder is the king of electricity damage. Invest in his ‘Energize’ skill to boost nearby friendly electric damage and combine with the Clacker pistol (an Unrivaled weapon) for especially lethal combinations.
• Bribón is great for getting your team out of a tough situation. Remi’s ability Siren sends Bribón to distract your enemies, letting your teammates sneak by or take out a whole group of enemies at a time. Upgrade Remi’s Siren ability so Bribón can do damage and shock your enemies.

Getting Rid of the Vampires

• The vampires of Redfall are exceptionally agile and will try to dodge many of your attacks. With the ability to float and teleport, you’ll have a tough time hiding from them. Look for ways you can use the environment to slow them down. Nearby electrical boxes or UV lights could save your life if you find yourself surrounded.
• Time will pass as you explore the world. The sun may be permanently eclipsed on the island, but you’ll still be able to tell when it’s daytime versus nighttime. During the day, vampires will be less present on the streets, preferring to tuck away in abandoned houses. They’ll come out if they hear noise, but if you’re quiet enough you might be able to slip by unnoticed or get the drop on them while they’re resting inside.
• Nests are dens of psychic space where vampires slumber within the blood trance, strengthening all vampires within the Nest, as well as all enemies inside of the Nest’s sphere of influence in the real world. Outside the Nest, a glowing bubble marks this zone of psychic energy that will keep growing until the heart of the Nest is destroyed. Find the ghostly door leading into a Nest and destroy the heart to collapse that Nest. Within each, there is a powerful Remnant.
• Rook Storms: The Vampire Gods' wrath manifests as a dynamic storm accompanied by the Rook, a relentless enemy. Provoke the new gods and face their champions. The Rook will not stop until it's destroyed, or you are dead. Killing grants you a significant reward.
• That being said, the Rook is a huge challenge. Sometimes it’s ok to let him kill you. It’s sort of like playing dead. It will reset the meter tracking the Vampire Gods’ ire, and he’ll leave you alone until they send him after you again.
• You can use your enemies against each other. Throughout your time on Redfall you’ll face off against the vampires and their cultists as well as the private military company, Bellwether. Both groups hate you, and they’re not overly fond of each other, either. Use that to your advantage to set up situations where their attention is on each other, rather than on you.

Getting More Intel

• Notes and lore books add a lot of background info on the world and events.
• Search out-of-the way locations for Grave Locks, which are vestiges of the psychic event which brought Redfall's vampires into existence. Collect them to learn more backstory and to increase the Psychic Residue you automatically regain for your ultimate ability.
• In Redfall, houses hide secrets. Explore interiors when you can, where you'll unravel small stories and collect useful resources. In some cases, look for ravens, smoke, or a comms laser above a building...
• Eavesdrop on unaware enemies to absorb more information related to the world and the events unfolding around you.
• Psychic Echoes will play across the world in places where significant backstory events occurred. Trigger them and observe to learn more about what happened.

Getting Safer

• Securing safehouses is just one way you can take back Redfall, neighborhood-by-neighborhood. Complete safehouse missions to get access to more resources in your safehouse, and eventually you’ll be asked to track down and take out the neighborhood underboss vampire. Once unlocked, a safehouse can also serve as a fast travel spot.
• To secure a safehouse you usually need to switch on the UV lights outside via the nearby generator. These are often protected by cultists, vampires, or sometimes environmental puzzles.
• Pockets of Death Mist (red mist covering the ground) are a common sight in the world and can impede your travel. Running straight through can be hazardous to your health, so you’ll either want to try to find a way around or take out the source. Find the mist spewers in the center and hit it with a UV beam to stop the mist from flowing, then follow up with a solid hit to eliminate the mist altogether.

Getting Geared Up

• Always carry a staked weapon! We really can’t stress that enough. Once a vampire has taken enough damage, it will be exceptionally vulnerable to stakes for a moment. After that window closes, the vampire will begin to regenerate health and will come after you again.
• New weapons can be found throughout the world in various loot containers (kit bags, sages, car trunks, etc.) and all come in a variety of rarities, each with their own unique bonuses. Search everywhere to continue expanding your inventory.
• Scrap unwanted weapons for currency that can be used to buy ammo, medkits, lockpicks, rewire kits or new weapons.
• Don’t forget to assign your Remnants! Review them periodically to ensure you have the best Remnant for your playstyle equipped.
• You can find variant Hero outfits across the world, by completing the game on specific difficulty levels, and you can get more Hero outfits by obtaining extra Underboss skulls, which can be used to open special chests, hidden here and there.
• Use the right weapons for each situation. If you’re heading into a Nest, make sure you’re carrying more vampire-centric weapons like flare guns, UV beams and stake launchers.
• Want to look extra cool? There are costume variants for each of the characters that you’ll be able to unlock as you play. Check on your character screen every once in a while, to see if you’ve found any new items to try on.
