Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus – America Under Siege
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus
For BJ Blazkowicz, this time it’s personal.
Or, make that more personal. Or… personaler.
Whatever the case, BJ is back to wage war against the evil Nazi regime – but in Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, the front lines have moved from Europe to his homeland. Nazis have taken over America, and BJ wants his country back. His goal: to rally the resistance and restore peace and freedom to his beloved nation. And he’s not just fighting for himself; BJ’s partner Anya is pregnant with twins, so the future of his family is at stake as well. Watch our new video, featuring exclusive commentary from the team at developer MachineGames, for new insights into BJ’s character, the American setting, and the conflict ahead.
“The New Colossus is a direct sequel,” says Creative Director Jens Matthies. “It picks up immediately where the last one left off. We've constructed the game in a way that new players will catch up quickly and get what the game is about. For returning players, of course, they will know all of the backstory. They will just be able to flow right into the narrative of this game.”
“We've been in Europe, we've seen what happened, now we're taking it to America,” says Senior Game Designer Arcade Berg. “You get to see that brutal Nazi version of the American diner. It's such a fun theme to explore, both as a developer and as a player.”
As for BJ himself? When we last saw him at the end of Wolfenstein: The New Order, he wasn’t in the best shape. But don’t think that’ll deter our favorite Nazi-killing machine. “Even though BJ is severely injured and broken, you never break him mentally,” says Executive Producer Jerk Gustafsson. “For me, BJ is that strong, quiet guy. That blue-collar guy who gets things done.”
“What I love about making Wolfenstein games is that we’ve been given this amazing freedom to do things that are absolutely fearless from a story perspective,” Matthies adds. “We can tell a story that is much more intimate, that is just brutal, and also incredibly strange in a way. We get to do it in a way where you, as a player, can be 100 percent invested and be respected. We feel like this is the best story that we've ever made. “
