“Let’s have our cake and ice cream,” says Game Director Todd Howard.

No, he’s not referring to a newfangled high-calorie diet that’ll help you survive in the post-apocalyptic wasteland. Instead, Todd’s talking about how Fallout 4 will deliver full-featured shooter gameplay alongside a deep role-playing experience – complete with copious stats and multiple ways to customize your character. It’s all part of Bethesda Game Studios’ core philosophy of allowing you to be who you want and play how you want. “The more we can say yes to the player, the better we are,” Todd says. Find out more about player freedom in Fallout 4’s open world in our video interview.

Customization, Crafting & Modding

From building in-game settlements via the Workshop system to creating new weapons with Bethesda Game Studios’ most advanced crafting system yet, to designing mods on both PC and console, Fallout 4 is all about customization. Yes, almost all of this is optional – but now there’s even more reason to explore the expansive wasteland in search of all kinds of handy components. “You rip apart the world, and then you can build what you want,” says Game Director Todd Howard. Watch our new video to find out why duct tape and glue might be more valuable than grenades in Fallout 4.

Fallout 4 will release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on November 10, 2015.
