Meet the Heroes of Redfall: Layla Ellison

Redfall Standard Edition Box Front

Redfall

If your town was invaded by vampires, who would you call?

That’s just what’s happening in Redfall, and the residents of the island are desperately in need of a hero… or four. That’s where Redfall’s team of vampire slayers come in. Who are these heroes trying to save Redfall? Get to know each of them in our Meet the Heroes of Redfall series, starting with Layla Ellison.

Meet Layla Ellison – The Telekinetic Threat

Before Redfall descended into chaos and was taken over by a whole host of vampires and their god-like leaders, Layla Ellison was just a student at Redfall Technical University studying Biomedical Engineering. Unfortunately, this saddled her with an enormous amount of student debt and to pay it off, Layla signed up for a medical study at Aevum Therapeutics. Then something terrible happened at Aevum, and Layla ended up with telekinetic powers. Now she can use her umbrella as a shield, create elevators with her mind and call in her vampire ex-boyfriend, Jason. They’re still on good terms, and he’s always down to lend a helping hand in a fight. With the help of Jason, her trusty telekinetic umbrella and her sharp wit, Layla’s ready to kick vampire ass!

Get a special look into Layla’s life at the exact moment things went bad on Redfall and see her incredible powers in action.

Read on to learn more about Layla and her telekinetic abilities and all the skills you’ll have at your disposal.

Kick Vampire Ass with Layla’s Telekinetic Abilities

Layla’s telekinetic powers resemble those of a vampire, without the insatiable need for blood. If you want to take out the vampire threat threatening Redfall, you’re going to want her on your team; she can use her telekinetic umbrella as a shield, raise herself or her teammates into the air with a spectral elevator, and summoning Jason, Layla’s vampire ex-boyfriend, will give you an edge in a tough fight as he teleports in to take on nearby enemies.

Umbrella
Umbrella is the first hero ability you will unlock when you play as Layla. Using Umbrella creates a purple telekinetic shield that protects from most frontal assaults, defending her and her teammates against vampire and cultist attacks. Leveling up, you can spend skill points to upgrade and strengthen the Umbrella ability. Pressing the ability button will deactivate the shield, creating a powerful blast to damage nearby enemies.

Lift
Layla’s psychic elevator can bounce you or a teammate into the air. It’s an old-fashioned lift, too, being shaped by Layla’s cool and unique sense of style. Lift can help you get the drop on enemies from above, allowing you to take them out with long-range weapons, and give you greater mobility in a tight space. Use it to launch yourself to the top of buildings to get a better view of the surrounding areas. Lift can also be upgraded to toss enemies into the air.

Vampire Ex-Boyfriend
Summon Jason, the friendly and helpful vampire that Layla used to date, to fight alongside you in battle. The same medical trials that gave Layla her powers also transformed Jason into a vampire, but he’s a little different than the other bloodsuckers. Their special link allows Layla to call upon Jason, dealing devastating damage to nearby enemies. Vampire Ex-Boyfriend uses psychic residue to recharge, which can be picked up after destroying a vampire, or from cultists who sometimes carry the residue in jars. As with her other two abilities, skill points will upgrade and strengthen Vampire Ex-Boyfriend.
