What Makes Fallout 4 VR S.P.E.C.I.A.L.?
Fallout 4 VR
Fallout 4 VR takes the critically acclaimed open-world, post-apocalyptic RPG and brings it to a brand-new realm: virtual reality.
Reimagined from the ground up, Fallout 4 VR doesn’t just let Fallout fans see the game in a new light, but also gives VR users the full Fallout experience, bringing them hundreds of hours of adventure, battles and exploration in a way that’s not yet been done on the platform.
So… what exactly makes Fallout 4 VR special? Better yet – what makes Fallout 4 VR S.P.E.C.I.A.L.?
S(ETTLEMENTS)
In Fallout 4, settlements let The Sole Survivor leave their mark by constructing customizable bases across the Wasteland. In Fallout 4 VR, players can use motion controls to assemble their new home however they like with just a few simple points and clicks – perfect for practitioners of feng-shui or those just looking for the perfect angle to set up their turret perimeter.
P(IP-BOY)

Ever dreamed of owning your own functional Pip-Boy? In Fallout 4 VR, such dreams are a (virtual) reality! Thanks to motion control functionality, the Pip-Boy is now more handy than ever. You can check for valuable information about your health, location, and gear in real time simply by turning your wrist toward your face as if Vault-Tec’s personal supercomputer was actually strapped to your arm.
E(NGAGE WITH DOGMEAT IN VR)

A hallmark of VR is making you feel like you really exist inside a world. That immersion becomes a real bonus when you bring in Fallout’s #1 canine companion: Dogmeat! Unless you’re a heartless monster (or choose to play as one), who could resist exploring the Wasteland in virtual reality while spending time with their own personal pupper pal?
C(ONTENT)

Every quest, every location and every encounter from the original Fallout 4 is present and accounted for in its virtual reality debut. Prepare to spend hundreds of hours exploring the Commonwealth, meeting its many denizens, teaming up with your loyal companions and blasting through every Super Mutant, Ghoul and Deathclaw in your way. In short, Fallout 4 VR brings all-new experiences into Fallout 4 for longtime players while also bringing the biggest open-world experience yet to virtual reality.
I(NVIGORATED V.A.T.S.)

The iconic Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System is back in Fallout 4 VR but totally reimagined for virtual reality. V.A.T.S. in VR lets players blend real-time movement with slow-motion to place accurate shots without the worry of disorienting camera shifts.
It’s hard to explain how cool this feature is without trying it in person, but Lead Producer Andrew Scharf does it justice by describing the new V.A.T.S. as feeling “like Quicksilver from X-Men,” slowing down the world around you as you tag enemies with speed and precision. Pretty cool, huh?
A(CCESSIBILTY)

Interacting with your environment in Fallout 4 VR is as easy as using your own eyes and hands, making it even easier to enjoy your time in the Wasteland. Ready to crush some Feral Ghouls with a mighty blow of your Super Sledge? Just swing the motion controllers as if you were wielding one in real life!
Fallout 4 VR’s new controls create an opportunity for more folks to don their headsets and become The Sole Survivor. Just be sure to clear some space first so you don’t elbow-check any innocent bystanders.
L(IKE, IT’S GOT DOGMEAT IN VR)

Just look at him! Such a good boy.
