Top 5 Demons of DOOM - #3: The Mancubus
DOOM (2016)
Choosing a favorite demon from DOOM is like choosing a favorite child.
They can be challenging, generally incomprehensible and vicious at times, but each is special and you can’t help but love them all equally.
Nevertheless, we’ve assembled a list of the five biggest, baddest, and/or simply best that the legions of Hell have to offer. Got a personal favorite? Let us know your favorites in the comments below!
3. THE MANCUBUS
First appearing in DOOM II, the Mancubus quickly gained a reputation as something you really do not want to encounter in a dark corridor. This is probably due to it being a fleshy, hulking biped approximately the size of said dark corridor with flamethrowers for arms, constantly dripping fangs and a disturbingly high tolerance for pain. Look, all we’re saying is you know the Mancubus means business when it’d rather have mounted weapons on its arms instead of hands.
DOOM 3 made these jiggling, weapon-wielding nightmares somehow even more off-putting by replacing the dripping fangs with a kind of tentacle/proboscis hybrid, calling to mind a bipedal, murderous elephant seal, (which coincidentally gives you an idea how tough fighting a Mancubus can be.)
DOOM (2016)’s version toughened up even further by growing a chitinous armor over its upper body. To make matters worse for the DOOM Slayer, it also gained the ability to emit constant streams of fire from those arm-cannons. Oh, and it also got a friend: the Cyber-Mancubus, which sports even more armor and fires corrosive bile instead of flame. Ah, the digital age!
