Todd Howard to Receive Legend Award at New York Videogame Awards

Bethesda Game Studios’ Todd Howard has been selected to receive the Andrew Yoon Legend Award from the New York Videogames Critics Circle for his achievements as game director and executive producer on the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series.

Howard will join the prestigious ranks of past Legend Award winners such as Ultima developer Richard Garriott and the entire team at Rockstar Games (accepted by exec Jennifer Kolbe) on January 24, during the 7th Annual New York Game Awards ceremony at the Abrons Playhouse.

“Bethesda's games always try to go the extra mile for critics and fans, and that initiative starts at the top,” says author and NYVGCC founder Harold Goldberg. “Todd has shown himself to be someone who's a terrific leader because he's a caring, creative thinker who pores over the details.”

Howard won’t be the only Bethesda representative making an appearance in Manhattan, however, as Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is being nominated for the Big Apple Award for Best Game of the Year, the Herman Melville Award for Best Writing, and the Tin Pan Alley Award for Best Music.

Additionally, Brian Bloom and Nina Franoszek have both been nominated for the Great White Way Award for Best Acting in a Game, thanks to their vocal performances as BJ Blazkowicz and Frau Engel, respectively, in The New Colossus.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for the Nintendo Switch and Skyrim VR also received a joint nomination for the Freedom Tower Award for Best Remake. You can learn more about the other nominees here.
