The High Five: 10 Years of Oblivion

For our latest Bethesda High Five, we’ve got some celebrating to do.

After all, March 20th marks 10 years since the release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion on PC. Yeesh, we feel Old-blivion. It seems like just yesterday when we were first fighting foes in the Daedric realm and closing the gates of…. OBLIVION!

Join us as we celebrate the milestone by showcasing some noteworthy community creations that honor the game’s legacy. We also encourage you to share your own Oblivion memories throughout the week using the hashtag #10YearsInOblivion so we can continue the festivities.

Easter Eggs

Even the most skilled mage would find it difficult to discover all of Tamriel’s hidden secrets, but a new video from YouTuber Camelworks is a must-see for curious adventurers. It took him six months to capture a wealth of Easter Eggs from Oblivion, like references to Maryland restaurants, and the character Oford Gabings--who may be a lord of some ring.

Oblivion Tome

We’re happy to cover this next one. Tumblrer Kingcael wanted to capture Oblivion’s rich lore as a gift for their significant other, and what better way to do it than to transfer it all into a handcrafted tome? This beautifully bound book was made from vinyl and cardstock, and is filled with 700 pages of lore and stories from Oblivion.

Potion Seller

I want a potion. You want a potion. We all want potions. But these potions may be too strong for us, and YouTuber Justin Kuritzkes knows this all too well. That’s why his dramatic one-man-show captures the struggle quite well, and proves we likely can’t handle these potions.

Nehrim: At Fate’s Edge mod

Mods have always been part of Oblivion’s history, but the Sureai Team took their creation to the next level. A few years after the game released, they created a total conversion mod called Nehrim: A Fate’s Edge, a self-contained game that while based on the game’s engine, took you out of the world of Tamriel. This massive undertaking went on to become one of Oblivion’s more popular mods for roleplayers. You can download the mod here.
