DOOM® Eternal
The DOOM WOOD Project – Raze Hell & Save the World
DOOM® Eternal
In our gamescom highlights post we told you about how, for the sake of the environment, we dispensed with merchandising this year at the world's biggest gaming convention, and instead we pledged to plant 0.666 m² (7.17 sq. ft.) of forest for every visitor who played DOOM Eternal at our booth. We lovingly named this project DOOM WOOD. Because of our amazing fans, during gamescom over 86111 sq. ft. of wood was gamed into being – a massive triumph for all of us and especially the environment.
Spurred on by your commitment and encouragement, we decided to continue this project beyond gamescom.
WHAT CAME NEXT?
So what came next for DOOM WOOD after gamescom? Naturally, we kept our promise and word became deed: the first trees were planted on October 30.
We would like to take this opportunity to properly introduce you to Treemer, our DOOM WOOD partner. Treemer is a private firm that works to help improve the environment and nature. They've been planting trees for climate protection for years now and they offer companies the opportunity to actively engage in their forests. This can take many forms, including planting trees, paying for trees to be planted, or providing financial support.
Social responsibility commitments reap their own rewards! The German Developer Innovation Prize nominated DOOM WOOD for the Special Prize for Social Commitment.
AND WHAT HAPPENS NOW?
Our forest growing efforts naturally won't stop here. In December (and in time for the Holidays), we'll plant another 666 m² (7168.76 sq. ft.) of forest. And we've got even bigger plans for next year. But it'd be boring to spoil the surprise, so we're holding back the details for now. Stay tuned for more!
