Ghostwire: Tokyo is here!

We don’t want to keep you waiting from the rain-slicked streets of haunted Tokyo but like any good ghost hunter will tell you, preparedness is key.

To that end, below are some quick answers to questions you may have as you first step into the world of Ghostwire: Tokyo. Be sure to also check out our Beginner’s Tips & Tricks for more beginner-friendly gameplay pointers!

How do buffs from offerings (Jizo statues and stray Tanuki) work?

Certain buffs only work in a specific area. In the map screen, move your cursor a nearby shrine in map to see the effective area of offering buffs you’ll receive. In some cases, you’ll have to investigate those boundaries yourself!

Why doesn’t my Wire in ability work after pressing the activation button a second time?

After activating Wire In, hitting the same buttons again will cancel the effect and set your Resonance to zero – it’s all or nothing!

How to cancel my charged Ethereal Attack?

Charged Ethereal Weaving attacks can be canceled by pushing R3 on PlayStation 5 or Q on PC.

How can I fast travel in Ghostwire: Tokyo?

There are three types of locations you can fast travel to, indicated by their respective symbols on your map. Explore Tokyo to find them all:

• Fast Travel

• Shrines

• Relic-Hunting Nekomata

Why I can't use the Core Grab while equipping a bow?

To perform Core Grabs, you must either have a talisman or your Ethereal Weaving equipped.

Summon Tengu isn’t letting me set a Tengu Grapple point where I want – is there anything I can do?

While aiming the Summon Tengu ability, some spots may be just out of grappling range. Lots of areas also have specific spots were a Tengu can be placed – we recommend ‘scanning’ along ledges while aiming the ability to help find spots to place your Tengu.

Did I just hear a cat meow? Does that signify anything?

Yes! The first time you get near a collectible Relic, you will hear a meowing sound. Keep an eye out for these Relics, as you can trade them with some Nekomata in the city for rewards!

The Hyakki Yako doesn't reappear even after reloading a save file. Why?

The Hyakki Yako will reappear after a set interval of time – even with reloaded save files. Go explore Tokyo or dive into some missions for a while and the event will return after a little while.

How can I find Containment Cubes?

You can toggle on the “Show Compass” setting from option menu, which will place a marker on the map when a Containment Cube event occurs.

I think I’m missing rewards at Hirokawa shrine. What can I do to check?

To find all the rewards, use the Spectral Vision ability to highlight objects as you search through the shrine.

Where can I pick up more talismans?

Talismans become available for purchase at Convenience Stores after you first acquire them in-game.

I missed a chance of collecting spirits because of my cap of Katashiro reached out max after clearing Hyakki Yako or Containment Cubes. Will it affect a Total Spirit Transferred ratio?

Spirits that aren’t absorbed from a Hyakki Yako or Containment Cube event can be re-acquired by completing the event again. This will not affect the total number of spirits in the game you can transfer.

What can I do if I have a difficulty of seeing a Hyakki Yako?

Hyakki Yako only appear in specific areas. If you encounter one they will not reappear until a certain amount of time has passed. As your proceed through the game, Hyakki Yako will begin to appear in new areas.

I made an offering and wished for a Jizo statue location. Is there a way to tell which Jizo statue icon on my map was newly added?

You can identify Jizo statues that you have not prayed to by the color of their symbol on the map. Jizo statues which can still be prayed at show up as a bright marker, whereas ones that have already been prayed to are darker. We recommend to enabling the "Hide Completed Icons" filter in your map, which hides Jizo statues you’ve already visited.

I am having trouble finding hidden Tanuki. Any tips?

Tanuki disguise themselves as everyday objects throughout Tokyo, but their disguises aren’t perfect. Use your Spectral Vision to find Tanuki in disguise by looking for their tail!

What is a Perfect Guard? Is it different than regular guarding?

Yes! When blocking at just the right moment, Akito can pull off a Perfect Guard. Not only do Perfect Guards fully negate damage rather than just reduce it, they can also sometimes cause enemies to stagger when their attacks are Perfect Guarded.

Why I can't attack enemies with Ethereal Weaving while Akito is separated from KK?

To use Ethereal Weaving properly, Akito must be in sync with KK. When separated, Akito must rely on his more conventional tools like the bow and arrow until he reunites with KK.
