Exclusive Collectibles & Gear in Loot Crate’s New Fallout Crate

As the curator of the Fallout Crate, the greatest part of assembling this crate was getting to dig back into the Wasteland and the world of Fallout. I replayed the games, watched playthroughs, read the original Vault Dweller's Survival Guide, and even took a trip to visit our good friends at Bethesda for a full day’s brainstorming session with the development team at Bethesda Game Studios.

All of this was to create something really special: the most authentic Fallout experience for you! But trying to find a balance between rad collectibles, replicas and useful never-before-done items is a real challenge. In the end it all comes down to picking from the most impactful characters and moments in the franchise that we all experienced together.

Exclusive Figures: How do we do it?!

Speaking of characters, let’s talk about the centerpiece of the Fallout Crate, our exclusive figure line. No Fallout game is complete without a companion or two. While you can play through the game solo, it’s always nice to have a crazed Super Mutant with a gatling laser wreaking havoc on your enemies. So our focus for the figure line is on the companions, delivering a nice, stylized take on memorable characters. Using in-game assets and concept art, our product designer, Ray, creates initial concepts for Bethesda, and from there, we move toward 3D modeling, coloring and production. All in all, it’s a long process but watching something come to life is one of the most rewarding parts of the job.

With our previous figure lines, we explored the idea of having all the figures connect in some way. Each figure in the Fallout collection is set on a vault door base with interlocking teeth, so you can mix and match your Fallout companion display lineup. We knew we had to make this figure series really S.P.E.C.I.A.L. and, since the weapons in Fallout are just as memorable as the companions, we decided to give each figure a memorable weapon. Some figures may even come with 2 weapons. This second weapon can be holstered onto each figure or given to the Power Armor build-a-figure.

Part of creating this Fallout Crate was about bringing the world of Fallout into the real world… without all the radiation and monsters. Throughout the franchise, Power Armor has been the ultimate prize; each piece you collect is great on its own, and they basically become unstoppable together. This is something we wanted to recreate with Fallout Crate. Throughout your subscription, you will slowly collect Power Armor pieces that will eventually give you a full set of Power Armor PLUS our favorite companion in the entire series.

And remember those secondary weapons from the main figure line? Well, those can all be held by the Power Armor build-a-figure so you can choose which weapon you take out into the Wasteland, just like in the game!
