DOOM (2016)

UPDATE

It’s been thrilling to finally see gamers from around the world playing DOOM and we wanted to take a minute to thank all of you for a tremendous launch.
Yesterday, you took us to a peak of #2 on Twitch – a new record for an id game. Thank you to everyone streaming and watching. It was the favorite pastime at the office yesterday. We loved watching players dive into every aspect of the game: pushing difficulty, looking for secrets, reading the lore, going for ultra-nightmare runs, building maps, competing in multiplayer. We simply couldn’t be happier that you are having fun. And that’s the point, isn’t it? DOOM was built for fun first – and we love watching you have fun with it.

As we mentioned in our Day 1 post yesterday (see below), our launch marks just the beginning of our support of DOOM. While we have a ton of new features and updates already underway here at the studio, we were inspired by watching you play and discuss the game today, and that has generated many more ideas that we're excited to provide in the coming months. Keep playing and we will keep watching and listening. Thank you.

There’s nothing like the feeling of releasing DOOM and finally seeing it in the hands of the people we made it for. From the moment we debuted and played DOOM for 3,000 gamers at QuakeCon 2014, we’ve been eager to have you play too – and today, it’s yours.

This is the most ambitious game we’ve made. From the relentless “rip-and-tear” action of the campaign, to the constant competition in multiplayer and limitless possibilities of SnapMap, we’ve packed in a ton of ways for you to play. We hope you enjoy playing DOOM as much as we still do. And with so many possibilities, we’re most excited to see you find and create experiences that we never even imagined.

Throughout development, our team has been fueled by the immense opportunity to create a new journey in a game franchise that is so special to so many players – and we’ve continually been inspired by the DOOM games, teams, mods, players and communities that have preceded our work. If you have been a part of that amazing and diverse legacy, you have our thanks and we hope that you find both familiar and new DOOM experiences as you play this game. If this is your first experience with DOOM, welcome to the party. Grab a shotgun and start killing some demons.

Thank you all for the incredible support and encouragement. We’ve had an absolute blast making DOOM – but with all of the updates, features and additions we have planned, we want you to know this is just the beginning.

Have fun,

id Software
