Join us in celebrating 25 years of Quake!

In 1996, id Software revolutionized the shooter landscape (once again) with the release of Quake, taking players through the Slipgate into a world of frenzied combat, horrific foes, secret-laden maps and, of course, a full compliment of memorable, badass weapons.

With 2021 marking 25 years of Quake, we want to extend our thanks to the community that put the franchise on the map, playing endless hours of competitive matches at home or on the esports stage, one-upping each other in intense speedrun competitions and even propelling a certain little LAN party called QuakeCon into a full-scale gaming event attended by gamers all over the world.

As part of the festivities, we’re bringing some nostalgic content to Quake Champions with the upcoming Summer update slated for early July. Speaking of putting Quake on the map, this update adds the classic DM6 map, The Dark Zone, to Quake Champions, as well as adds a bunch of original Quake weapons to unlock and wield in-game. We’re also creating some never-before-seen developer interviews and retrospectives that we can’t wait to share with you soon.

Whether you took your first step into Quake’s twisted, Gothic arenas back in 1996 or discovered the classic during the modern resurgence of old-school shooters, we’re excited to celebrate the game that started it all with you. Catch you in the arena!
