Bethesda High Five: DOOM Closed Beta Recap

Last weekend, we held our DOOM closed beta event and it was a blast.

There’s nothing more fun than popping into a livestream and watching new players compete while learning the game’s mechanics for the first time. After the end beta ended, we saw a ton of great fan content – so much so that we decided to dedicate this Bethesda High Five to some of our favorite player creations from the closed beta.

And since we just announced the DOOM open beta, what better way to prepare yourself for the upcoming event than to watch some great DOOM multiplayer action? Take a look at a few beta highlights below, and get ready for the open beta, kicking off on April 15.

Carlton Taunt

It’s not unusual to see folks having fun with taunts in-game, but when you add the Revenant’s face to this fresh DOOM taunt, the end result is a Carlton of fun.

DOOM: Don’t Stop the Carnage

Seismic White created a montage of his own DOOM playthrough videos, set to Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now.” You can tell he’s having a good time blasting opponents while leaping through the sky. Plus, we think it’s fitting that Freddie Mercury sings during a melee montage on Mars.

We also saw some great video footage from the DOOM Closed Beta from players around the world. Take a look at some livestreams and video content from these talented players who had no problem staying atop the leaderboards.

Long Range Telefrag

We have one last video to share with you this week. YouTuber MarineRevenge lived up to his name during the beta by executing a long range telefrag – killing an enemy player by teleporting into the same space. This unique kill may be tricky to pull off, but it’s satisfying as Hell when you do.
