With the release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remaster, Elder Scrolls fans returned to the rolling hills of Cyrodiil to experience the Imperial City, Mehrunes Dagon’s invasion, and A Rat Problem anew. If you’d like to enjoy even more adventure in the heart of Tamriel and delve further into some of places, people, and themes found in TES IV, check out these five ways you can continue your Elder Scrolls saga in The Elder Scrolls Online.

Repulse a Different Daedric Invasion

TES IV and ESO’s main storylines have a lot in common. Both begin with the extinguishing of the Dragonfires and subsequent Daedric invasions. While Mehrunes Dagon and Molag Bal use different methods and strategies, both see Nirn as a prize to be captured.

With Dagon's plan halted and the Mythic Dawn defeated in TES IV, travel back to the Second Era to help Tamriel survive the machinations of Molag Bal in ESO. You'll dive deep into the lore surrounding the Prince of Domination, the relationship between Oblivion and Nirn, the Amulet of Kings, the Dragonfires, and what it means to be Emperor.

Discover Kvatch Before Ruin

In TES IV, you become the Hero of Kvatch when you put a stop to the Daedric assault on the city. Unfortunately, Kvatch is already ruined by the time you get there, and all that remains are a few scattered survivors.

In ESO, you can experience the city of Kvatch in its full glory within the Gold Coast zone. There you’ll discover the Cathedral of Akatosh, compete in the local arena, and, if you’re a member, complete your first contract for the Dark Brotherhood. Of course, this Second Era version of Kvatch is very different from the one you’d have already explored (centuries of conflict has caused an indelible impact), but you will still find familiar aspects and a new appreciation for one of Cyrodiil’s most important cities.

You can get to Kvatch and the Gold Coast zone with access to the Dark Brotherhood DLC. If you’re interested in other Cyrodilic cities in ESO, you can also visit Skingrad (West Weald), Anvil (Gold Coast), and Leyawiin (Blackwood). You can even visit Chorrol and Cheydinhal (Cyrodiil) by braving the open-world PvP warzone at the center of the continent.

Master Spellmaking’s Precursor with Scribing

In TES IV, Third Era Mages Guild members could mix and match effects with spellmaking, allowing them to craft extremely powerful custom spells* in classic Elder Scrolls fashion.

In ESO, you can delve into the origins of spellmaking with the Scribing system, which allows you to combine custom effects with spectacular skills. Play your own way! With its own questline and ever-expanding list of grimoires, Scribing gives you the opportunity to explore an ancient precursor to spellmaking, unlocking new lore and powers as you do.

Return to the Deadlands

In the TES IV main story, you’re tasked with pushing back Mehrunes Dagon’s invasion of Nirn. However, this isn't the first time Dagon has set his sights on Tamriel. Confront the Prince of Ambition in ESO and you'll venture beyond the Oblivion Gates to explore even more of the Deadlands.

In ESO’s Blackwood DLC, you must help the people of Cyrodiil and Black March repulse Dagon’s forces. In the Deadlands DLC, you can once again venture into Dagon’s realm of Oblivion as you take the fight directly to the Daedric Prince and learn more about the Daedra (and a few mortals) that call it home.

Uncover Mannimarco’s Origins

During your TES IV adventures with the Mages Guild, you may have encountered the dread necromancer Mannimarco. While his appearance is short-lived, it’s clear that the Worm King’s legacy is well established within the Third Era.

In ESO, you can delve deep into the origins of one of Tamriel’s most-famous villains during the era of his ascension. Mannimarco is the principal antagonist of the ESO base game (save for perhaps Molag Bal himself) and is responsible for the Soulburst and resultant Interregnum.

During ESO’s main story, you’ll put a stop to the Worm King’s schemes and recover your soul, but if you want to learn more about Tamriel’s greatest necromancer, you should complete the Psijic Order questline that is part of the Summerset DLC. There, on Artaeum, you can uncover Mannimarco’s true origins and rise to power.
