2025 ESO Direct Reveals Returning Foes, World-Changing Events & More

New quests, stories, and lands await Tamriel’s heroes with the announcement of two new edi-tions of The Elder Scrolls Online and a year’s worth of adventures in the 2025 Elder Scrolls Online Direct.

Content Pass and Premium Edition

For the first time in ESO’s history, the team has bundled a year’s worth of adventure into one product, granting access to all of 2025’s releases as they arrive. Now available in the Xbox Store, both the 2025 Content Pass and the 2025 Premium Edition include the following:

• Fallen Banners dungeon pack (now live)
• Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 1 (Arriving June 2 for PC/Mac and June 18 for Xbox con-soles)
• The Writhing Wall in-game event (Arriving Q3)
• Feast of Shadows dungeon pack (Arriving Q3)
• Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 2 (Arriving Q4)

Both editions also grant access to a host of special in-game rewards, including a unique custom-ized action, mount, pet, and emote pack if you purchase now.

Age Required

Pick up the 2025 Premium Edition and you also get immediate access to the game AND all of ESO’s previous Chapter releases—making it ideal for new or returning players.

A Year of Adventure

Also announced during the ESO Direct were the year’s major content releases, introducing a new zone to explore, storylines to discover, and challenges to overcome.

Seasons of the Worm Cult

A two-part adventure, the Seasons of the Worm Cult is the game’s major new zone and storyline for 2025.

Divided by the mysterious Writhing Wall, the isle of Solstice is beset by the dread Worm Cult, and you and your fellow players must venture into the mysterious island of Solstice, gather your allies, and put a stop to the cult’s dread schemes.

For the first time in the game’s history, the Seasons of the Worm Cult saga continues a story that began in the ESO base game (although you don’t need to have completed the game’s original story to enjoy this one). Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 1 will go live on June 18 for Xbox con-soles, with Part 2 arriving later in Q4, 2025.

Writhing Wall Event

Splitting Solstice and (initially) denying players entry to half of the zone is the Writhing Wall, a gigantic magical barrier the cult uses to conceal and protect their activities in the island’s east.

Age Required

In another ESO first, the Writhing Wall will be the focus of a major in-game Q3/4 event where players must team up to assault the barrier and, hopefully, break through to the other side and open the door to Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 2 in Q4.

Dungeon Packs

Also included in the 2025 Content Pass and 2025 Premium Edition are two dungeon packs: Fallen Banners (now live) and Feast of Shadows (arriving Q3). Each pack features two unique PvE four-player dungeons, complete with their own storylines, challenges, achievements, and rewards.

U46 Update

Arriving alongside Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 1 in June is the Update 46 base-game patch, a free update that introduces major changes and additions to the game.

Subclassing

Update 46’s new Subclassing system allows you to replace up to two of your character’s three class Skill Lines with those from the other six classes . Part of ESO’s commitment to allowing players to play their way, with this new tool, you can finally create a playstyle uniquely your own as you mix and match class Skill Lines to create your ideal hybrid.

Hero’s Return

Have you been away from ESO for a while? With Update 46’s Hero’s Return system, there’s never been a better time to jump back into Tamriel. In this new system, if you’ve returned from a pro-longed absence, the game will help remind you how its combat system and mechanics work. There’s also bonus log-in rewards and a special Golden Pursuits campaign designed to help get you get back on your feet and refamiliarize you with ESO’s many activities and challenges.
