Quake Champions Heads to Early Access August 22!

On August 22, Quake Champions will officially exit the Closed Beta phase and enter into Early Access on both the Bethesda.net launcher and on Steam! Early Access will also bring a ton of new content to the game, including a brand new maps, new features, and a new Champion... the DOOM Slayer!

Quake Champions’ free-to-play version will launch at a later date. However, ALL players that redeemed a Closed Beta key will be able to continue playing Quake Champions in free-to-play mode via Bethesda.net. Alternately, you can purchase the Champions Pack during Early Access to gain access to all current and future Champions, playable on either Bethesda.net launcher or on Steam. Free-to-play beta players will play on the same servers as Champions Pack owners and have the option of upgrading to the Champions Pack or buying additional Champions at any time. Players new to Quake Champions will need to either buy the Champions Pack or wait until free-to-play mode launches at a later date.

To play Quake Champions during Early Access, players can buy the Champions Pack, which includes:
  • All 11 current Champions, including Ranger, Visor, Scalebearer, Nyx, Anarki, Clutch, Sorlag, Galena, Slash, BJ Blazkowicz from id Software’s Wolfenstein, and the new DOOM Slayer
  • All future Champions, including at least six additional Champions expected to release before the end of 2018, and any that follow
  • An exclusive Early Access skin for series diehard Ranger, available only during the Early Access period for Champions Pack players
  • Three Reliquaries (loot chests containing three in-game items for profile, Champion, and weapon customization, like skins, shaders, nameplates, and more)

For more information about what the Early Access game update includes, be sure to check out Bethesda.net! Thank you to everyone who has played Quake Champions during our closed beta test events. We look forward to the future of Early Access!

So pumped!

good work then 🙂

Better hope that the net code is in tip-top shape and that hit boxes are changed to capsule.

This is good news - I hope the steam release will boost the playercount tremendously.

Will the Doom Slayer be available for us closed betatesters, or do we also have to rent him via favor?

Can I ask a few questions?

Will I be able to Link my Bethesda Account with my Steam Account? I would like this game on steam, but I wouldn't want to make another account/email/ect to do that.

2nd, Does this mean progression is permanent now? No more resets? After August 22nd, can I actually play and keep my stuff?

Thank you for the update ! Great news ! ☺

Going to buy the champion pack.

Can you please add a true OFFLINE mode  (Steam offline mode, no internet connection) with AI bots for the Steam version ?

I hope you will remove the always online requirement at some point.

They said in the AUA anouncement for Steam that you would need both a Steam account and your Bethesda account to play on Steam, so at least on one occasion you would have to enter your Bethesda account details into the game and it will surely load your current profile from there.

Oh so just like Warthunder or Vindictus then. The game is only launched and maintained by Steam, but the actual account log in is Via Bethesda.

One thing I am curious about, though, is whether we'll need to buy the pack on Steam to play it through there (without adding it manually as a non-Steam game). Or rather, if it'll be the same atrocious, account hostile system as ESO has going, where, if you want to play via Steam, you must first buy the game through Steam, even if you've already bought a physical copy, rather than simply redeeming a key tied onto your official Bethesda account if you had a pre-existing license.

From what I can tell, it would seem we need to buy Early Access in order to play via Steam, or otherwise be confined to the Bethesda Launcher, at least until full release.

I wonder this as well.  I'd rather just load up Steam for Quake Champions and uninstall that atrocious launcher.

"reach new heights with Double Jump, which allows the DOOM Slayer to jump a second time while in mid-air."

It's nice to see that Genji is making an appearance in Quake Champions.

"Two New Maps: Church of Azathoth and Tempest Shrine"

Will these be remakes of old maps?  If so, what ones?

As if that character in OW was the first in a FPS to have double-jump...

Anyway, my major concern is if it will update the game via steam, or still use the beth launcher for that even when installed through steam. That launcher is one of the worst pieces of obviously-outsourced junkware I've used in a long time. Its a shame its not just going away entirely. I hope the steam launch helps the player numbers, but since it still won't be F2P I kind of doubt it. Hopefully the netcode is fixed up and F2P comes soon.

All of your content will be tied to your Bethesda account. Similar to how Elder Scrolls legends is regardless of client and how Elder Scrolls online is tied to an ESO account regardless of client.

Unlike ESO there will be no weird licensing issues, your client will link to everyone else via the servers. It'll be like Quake Champions normally, minus using the Bethesda launcher and you'll have to link/sign into your Bethesda account once. It should remember it after that

This is awesome! I hope the demo feature isn't that far of in the future, but this update sure sounds good! 🙂

Troll the respawn, Jeremy!

The double jumping DOOM Slayer debut was in DOOM 2016's release 11 days before Overwatch's release date too 😄

Nice! New Maps, New Champ and Steam!

Will weapon skin unlocks be permanent? Will we be able to buy stuff in game?

Do beta participants get a discount on the steam release?

Genji? Double Jump was in UT2003 dude.

How is the Vulkan version development going?
