Ah I do remember Apple saying that when they started pushing for 64 bit support. There's no point in an update for them anyways at this juncture. No iOS device supports more than 4GB of RAM so having the extended memory addressing does nothing for the apps. It'll probably start to really matter down the road in like 2019 or 2020, but by then maybe someone will just port an idTech 1 generic engine to the App store. The source code for the iOS version of DOOM is up on id Software's Github page (both the newer version and the original source)
